Activity 7 Writing
1. Describe how economic,
technological, cultural, or political globalization is affecting and has
affected your present student’s lifestyle most. You must give examples from
your daily experience to elaborate your points.
(Be honest and creative while writing) (At least 100)
Globalization has affected everyone, and
students are not the exception. As a student, I can say that part-time jobs are
very demanding, they pay less than the minimum wage because you are not a fully
time employee. But how can you complain if somebody IS willing to have that
job. So you have to accept it.
Technology has improved in all areas, who would
have thought that you could order a taxi, and know its exact location, how much
time it would take, information of the driver. I don’t have any complaints
about technology.
I think we all agree we are not 100% attached
to our culture. That´s why I don’t think cultural appropriation is a thing, a
lot of people suppose that you are appropriating other culture while using a
distinctive object or clothing, and they argue that unless you know the
meaning/history of that object you are allowed to use it but, what about Halloween,
Christmas, birthdays, do we really know its meaning? I don’t think so. My advice
is to enjoy everything and stop judging.
Mirleth :) I agree with you about your views on globalization in our student life. As you say, it is important to preserve a part of our culture, it is great to know about other places and follow their traditions, but it is also important to respect ours without forgetting them.
ReplyDeleteHi Mirleth i totally agree with you not many people is 100% attached with their culture and there is nothing wrong with it, it is natural. Culture will always be continually changing and not only because of globalization but because it is our nature. Culture is everything that the human creates and the human will never stop creating.
ReplyDeleteYou say it very well in your text. Unfortunately we must accept the terms of employment. We live each thing to comment. We have no choice but to use those tools and move on.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, one of the effects of globalization has been the low wages that companies offer, despite being demanding, this happens especially in multinational companies that are installed in the country.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point about cultural appropriation, it is a topic that causes a lot of controversy in social media, but in the end it is the best thing that can happen to a country to know its customs and typical clothing because people will be interested in visiting the country.
