1. How do you define communication?
It's the capacity to exchange ideas, opinions either written, oral and physical.
2. What is the role of communication in management of business?
In order for a firm to succeed it needs to have a efficient and effective communication along it's employees.
3. What are the different purposes of communication?
A. For instructions: the communicator guides and instructs the group to a task
B. For information: to inform the group (maybe a new protocol, plan, etc)
C. For teaching: Helps educate the workers (how to use a machine, how to react to a hurricane, etc.)
D. For Influencing: requires to be persuasive ti impose an order or plan
E. For integration: helps to view the different areas of a company into one big group that works for the same goals.
4. Discuss the different situations when the communication exists.
I. Sender/transmitter (a person wants to transmit an information)
II. Receiver ( a second person receives the information)
Escenario a : the reciever understands the message total or partly
Escenario b : the reciever responds
5. "Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions and emotions by two or more persons"
The statement explains: for there to exist communication there must exist feedback, because communication flows both ways, that's why it's called in exchange.
6. "Communication is the two way process"
As written before, it can't be just one person sending, both people must function as a sender and reciever at the same time.
7. Elements of communication process
a. Sender - the person who initiates
b. Message - the subject
c. Encoding - the form of communication
d. Communication channel - the method used to send the message
e. Reciever - who receives the message
f. Decoding - how the reciever interpret the message
g. Feedback - the response
h. Brain drain - when the message was misunderstood and it breaks the cycle of communication
8. Three examples of brain drain
1) when someone asks another person ( mediator) to send a message to a third person
2) when the sender rambles and does isn't coherent and eloquent
3) when the communication channel isn't the appropriate for the type of message
ReplyDeleteHi, I read your answers, well done!, I agree with some of your ideas and perspectives about the topic, communication is a pretty important tool who helps us every day and in a lot of cases, if we use it properly, we can shared: ideas, facts, opinions, instructions, feelings. Actually, I did not think about add to my definition ‘written, oral and physical’, it is a good one phrase!
I am interesting about your examples of ‘brain drain’, I swear, I did not expect that situations, they are pretty creative; the first one was my favorite, ‘a mediator’… Even your answer could match with mine, I wrote a case where people speak different languages, then the mediator entries here, where he/she does not know the proper answer neither, so, the communication process is totally fail, what do you think?
Hello Mirleth, We don't have similarities in this activity, but I feel that your answers are better structured than mine, I didn't think I would find such a concise approach as you did, I liked it.
